Morning Rituals That Keep Me Aligned as a Lash Artist + Entrepreneur
There’s something about mornings that feels like pure sunshine to me. I love all things daytime — being out in the sun, starting fresh, feeling the energy of a new day. Honestly? Mornings feel like dopamine in their purest form. That’s why I don’t like to rush them. The way I spend my mornings sets the tone for everything that follows, and I try to use that time to set myself up for success.
For me, mornings are more than just getting ready — they’re about alignment.
Most days, I start by reading a chapter in my Bible. It’s my anchor. I like to reflect on what I read and think about how I can apply it to my life or how it speaks to what I’m going through at that moment. On some days, journaling follows — not always neatly written or poetic, but sometimes just a brain dump. It helps me feel grounded, lighter, and more in touch with myself.
While I do my skincare or hair, I’ll listen to a podcast or throw on a YouTube video. It might be something educational for lashes, something faith-based about Jesus Christ, or something focused on self-development. And lately, I’ve been into true crime podcasts — Annie Elise and Kendall Rae keep me intrigued while I sip my coffee and move through my routine.
It’s not really about what I do, though. It’s about why. Having a morning routine is important to me because when I leave my house with a full cup, it’s so much easier to pour into others. As a lash artist, a business owner, and even in my part-time work at Buffalo Wild Wings, I interact with so many people each day. I want each one of them — whether it’s a client in my suite or a customer ordering wings — to feel seen, heard, and worthy. And that only happens when I’ve taken care of myself first.
Of course, it’s not always easy. Some days as a lash artist can be tough — challenges pop up, schedules get messy, or things don’t go as planned. But that’s where faith steps in. Reading the Word each morning reminds me that even when I’m overwhelmed, I can pause, pray, and trust that I’m exactly where I need to be.
My mornings don’t have to be perfect. They just have to be intentional. And that’s what keeps me aligned — so I can show up not just for myself, but for everyone I encounter.
